Video – Instances with Pwnboxer

The video above is a team multiboxing Forge of Souls, the first wing of Icecrown Citadel. I’ve set it to start at 55 seconds to skip the intro.

What you see in this video is how a single player can easily control a whole team of characters and easily handle group content. One of my favorite things about doing PVE content with a 5 man team is the ability for me to go at my own pace. No one is slowing me down, and if I want I can take 15 minutes away from the computer right before a boss fight to make a snack. Don’t forget when soloing instances you also get the loot and gold that 5 players would normally split up.

It might seem like a lot to handle 5 characters of multiple classes, and it is if you just jumped into it. For a new multiboxer I’d advise a simple setup, like 1 Priest 4 Paladins, or 5 shaman. This way you can get used to controlling 5 characters with similar abilities.

When you do start a more complex team, keep in mind you don’t start out with every ability. As you level up and learn new spells you can integrate them into your setup over time. There’s no reason to be overwhelmed.

So how does one control a team like this? Well it’s usually best to have a dedicated tank in a PVE team to simplify your healing. With your leading on your tank and holding aggro you can create a macro on your healer that heals your tank along with others for the rest of your party.

With you playing the tank yourself with a key (or a few) that heal you, you can create DPS macros for your other classes. These are commonly castsequence macros that are all on the same key for every DPS class, so hitting it on your paladin casts all your abilities on your DPS.

While this is just the very basics of how to handle a team, it gives you an idea how to start off.
